The full terms below are the ones that apply.
1. Agreeing to these terms
Just Show Up Club (“JSU”, “we”, “us”) is a nonprofit community run club based in Manila, Philippines. These terms apply to everyone who joins a JSU run, event, or activity, uses our website, signs up to our emails, buys our merch, joins our membership program, or takes part in the community in any other way. Our Privacy Policy is part of these terms.
By doing any of those things, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not participate, and email legal@justshowupclub.com so we can talk about it.
2. Runs and events
What we offer. Community runs and events, free unless we say otherwise. We are volunteers and organizers, not coaches, medical professionals, or a licensed sports body. Run leads set the route and the pace groups and may change or cancel a run at any time, including for weather and safety.
Who can join. Anyone 18 or older. Anyone under 18 may join only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian, who must accept these terms on their behalf and who is responsible for them at the event.
Your health and safety. You are responsible for deciding whether you are fit enough to run. Talk to a doctor if you are unsure. Bring water, dress for the weather, tell the run lead about any medical condition we should know about, and stop if you feel unwell. Our sign-up form does not collect emergency contacts or medical details, so carry your own ID and emergency contact information to every run, and be conscious that we cannot act on health information we do not have. Our runs take place on public roads, paths, and tracks. You must follow traffic laws, the instructions of run leads and marshals, and any rules of the venue.
Assumption of risk. Running and group exercise carry real risks, including injury, illness, traffic, weather, uneven ground, and the actions of other people. You take part at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release JSU, its organizers, volunteers, run leads, photographers, partners, and sponsors from claims arising from your participation, except where caused by our fraud or gross negligence.
Insurance and medical care. JSU does not provide insurance for participants. First aid may be available at some events but is not guaranteed. You are responsible for your own insurance and medical costs.
Your belongings. You are responsible for anything you bring to a run or event.
3. Photos, video, and your likeness
We document everything. Photographers, videographers, and creators work with JSU at most runs and events. Members and the public may also take photos there.
Your consent. By attending a JSU run, event, or activity, you consent to being photographed, filmed, and recorded by JSU and by the photographers and creators working with us. If you do not want to be photographed, tell the run lead or photographer before the run and step out of frame during group photos. We will do our best, but we cannot promise you will never appear in the background of a shot at a public group event.
The license you give us. You grant JSU a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable license to use, reproduce, edit, crop, publish, distribute, and display your name, image, likeness, voice, and any statement you make at our events, in media captured at them, for the purposes described in our Privacy Policy: our website, social media, newsletters, presentations, press, grant and sponsorship applications, partner and vendor content featuring JSU, printed and digital promotional material, and merchandise design. You will not receive payment for this, and you waive any right to inspect or approve the media or how it is used.
Ownership. All media captured at JSU runs, events, and activities by JSU, or by photographers, videographers, and creators working with JSU, and all content we create from it, is owned by JSU or licensed to JSU under our agreements with those creators. You do not acquire any ownership in it by appearing in it.
Taking something down. You may ask us at any time to remove a specific photo or video of you from the channels we control by emailing legal@justshowupclub.com with a link or screenshot. We will act within a reasonable time. We cannot recall media that has already been printed, delivered to partners, or shared by others.
Minors. Where a participant is under 18, this section applies with the consent of their parent or legal guardian.
4. Media we share with you
When we send you or post photos and video, they remain owned by or licensed to JSU. You may save and share them for personal, non-commercial use, with credit to @justshowupclub and the photographer where named. You may not sell them, license them, use them in advertising or for any brand or business, or edit them in a way that misrepresents JSU or the people in them, without our written permission. Brands, vendors, and partners need written permission before using any JSU media.
5. Community standards
JSU exists so that anyone can show up. So: treat every runner with respect, regardless of pace, body, background, gender, or anything else. No harassment, discrimination, unwanted contact, or intimidation. No dangerous behaviour, no running under the influence, and no littering. Do not promote, sell, or recruit for a business, product, or cause at our events or in our channels without our written permission. Follow the run leads.
These standards apply in our group chats too, including the Telegram group. Keep it about the club, no spam, no selling, no sharing of other members’ details or photos outside the group without their okay. Admins may remove anyone from a chat at their discretion.
We may ask anyone who breaks these standards to leave an event and may exclude them from future events and channels, without refund where a fee was paid.
6. Our brand and content
The Just Show Up Club name, the JSU mark and logo, “Just Show Up”, our website, and all photos, video, text, designs, and other content we publish are owned by JSU or licensed to us and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws of the Philippines and other countries. You may not use them, or anything confusingly similar, on products, events, accounts, or promotions without our written permission. Personal, non-commercial sharing with credit is welcome, as described in Section 4.
7. The website
The website is provided as is and may change, pause, or be unavailable at any time. Parts of it are still under construction, and some features are placeholders until they launch. Schedules are kept as current as we can, but confirm on the day if you are unsure. Links to other sites, including partners and social platforms, are provided for convenience; we are not responsible for their content or practices. You may not scrape, copy, or interfere with the website or use it for anything unlawful.
8. Merch, memberships, and partner perks
When our merch store and membership program launch, additional terms for orders, payments, shipping, returns, and membership will apply and will be shown at the point of purchase or sign-up. Until then, nothing on the website is an offer to sell and no prices shown are final.
Perks, discounts, and offers from JSU partners and vendors are provided by those partners under their own terms. JSU does not sell, warrant, or take responsibility for partner products or services. A partner may confirm to us that you used a JSU perk, as described in the Privacy Policy.
9. Emails and messages
If you opt in to our emails or messages, you agree to receive run club updates, newsletters, stories and member features, event invitations, merch drops, membership information, and offers and promotions from JSU vendors and partners, by email, phone, Instagram, or Telegram. Marketing sent directly by a partner is a separate opt-in. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, by leaving a chat, or by emailing us.
10. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, JSU, its organizers, volunteers, run leads, photographers, partners, and sponsors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss, or for loss of data, income, or opportunity, arising from your participation in our activities or your use of our website or content. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us for the activity or item concerned, which for free runs is nil. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for our fraud or gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded under the law that applies to you.
11. Your responsibility to us
You agree to compensate JSU and the people in Section 10 for losses, claims, and costs caused by your breach of these terms, your unlawful conduct, or your negligence at our events or in our channels.
12. Where we operate and which law applies
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines. Any dispute will be brought in the courts of Makati City, Philippines, unless the law that applies to you requires otherwise. As JSU grows, we may run events, chapters, or services in other countries. These terms still apply there, together with any local addendum we publish, and we will follow the local laws of that place. If a law gives you rights that these terms cannot limit, you keep those rights. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
13. Changes
We may update these terms as the club grows or the law changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. Continuing to take part after a change means you accept the updated terms.
14. Contact
